Infographics—boring! Or are they?

Hey there, good to see you again.

Let's get straight to the point, how many times have you, as a marketer, business owner, or consumer, looked at an infographic and thought to yourself, "man, this is boring." Personally, plenty of times, however, the difference between a mediocre infographic and a compelling infographic is significant. Today, I will discuss what makes an infographic effective.

Here are two examples of ineffective infographics.

Take a look at this image. Do you notice anything interesting about it? Using the principles of visual hierarchy, the circle encapsulating the 'yes' should undoubtedly be smaller than the no. This difference in sizes is a way to create cognitive dissonance in your viewer and mislead them—whether intentional or unintentional.

Unless you have superhuman vision or are sitting 2 centimeters away from your screen, you are likely unable to efficiently absorb the information at hand. It is proven that in today's modern market, capturing the viewers' attention as quickly as possible is crucial to retaining the said viewers and producing an effective outcome. Additionally, the routing of colors is highly confusing; overall, I give this infographic a D.

Now, here are a few effective infographics; we will discuss the benefits of said infographics after.

What a difference! These intuitive infographics are relevant, non-misleading, artistically appealing, and, most importantly, made memorable. Viewers of these infographics can, at a glance, understand the infographic and obtain meaningful information that helps them. Now, I have created an infographic that highlights my skillset and my brand; it is below.

I hope this information has proven to be helpful; thank you for reading.
