Hey again, good to see you; I hope all is well. Today I will be discussing Facebook's questionably timed brand position change—Meta. However, to have an idea of what the Metaverse is, take a look at this video produced by CNET, it is 10 minutes long, and it will get you up to speed.

Now, this blog post will be entirely opinion-based; I believe it is a terrible idea for humanity, great for marketers—let me explain. The idea of creating a virtual reality in which individuals will spend the vast majority of their time working, playing, and hanging out with friends is a terrifying thing. Human interaction is a crucial piece to individuals' sanity, and it would likely result in the user losing touch with what is real and what isn't. Like the book Ready Player One, one entire life will revolve around these virtual spaces, which we will devolve as a society. For marketers, though, this is a fantastic opportunity to make your product a part of someone's life. You can experience a product or service from the comfort of your own home—that is huge. We have seen advertisements implemented in certain VR games, with some expected pushback. However, in the future, consumers will likely be okay with seeing advertisements in their Metaverse—if they are personalized. Relating this to Marketing to Mindstates, marketers will better understand what mind state a user is in when attempting to push an advertisement on them. This fact will increase the likelihood that their promotion will impact the consumer.
Thanks for reading; I hope you enjoyed it.
See you again soon!
